A question to the socialists.

Do you think the US has more equal distribution of wealth today compared to 1900?

Today, we have social security, medicare, public schooling, publicly backed mortgages, publicly backed student loans, medicaid, and all other manner of social welfare programs from HUD to god knows what.

Those programs didn't exist back in 1900.

So, according to socialist theory, we should have a more equal distribution of wealth today - right?

Am I right?

Of course, you already know the answer to that question don't you.

You don't even need to Google it.

In 1902 ALL GOVERNMENT SPENDING - ALL OF IT - state, federal, local, etc.. came to about 7% of our GDP.

Today government spending clocks in at over 40% of our GDP.

Yet the distribution of wealth was far more flat prior to all of these government programs.

If you want equality, get rid of the government and our corrupt monetary system.

Considering that I can start a corporation of one person, I think you are wrong.

In fact I have started a corporation of one person.

Myself.

I'm agreeing with just about everything you are saying, BUT... You're missing one key point. That YOU were a corporation of one the minute your birth certificate was signed and you received a social security number AND you remain one right this very minute! THAT is how you are controlled - in exchange for the "Privileges" that "Citizenship" affords you.

Now if you want to talk about multi-national corporations or the Fortune 500 - well, that is another different layer entirely. And I think that is what is generating this back and forth posting - we're all agreeing but discussing different aspects of this machine.

Its important to understand the root cause of the evil.

At face value, it appears as if corporations are the problem because they are the ones directly corrupting government.

We can see all the evil they are doing.

But the point is entirely missed by most people that they couldn't get away with what they are doing unless government was behind them.

The market punishes corporations that do badly. The market bankrupts them and puts them out of business. The government prevents that punishment from taking place.

The free market is the greatest democracy on the planet today. Every day you buy something, you vote. You have a say in the free market. If everyone stopped shopping at WalMart tomorrow, WalMart would be bankrupt in less than a few months.

With politicians, you get to vote once every 4 years.

Completely Agree!

Government is the tool used by the corporations to perturb the playing field in their favor and thusly, US!

the US is NOT socialist. Having quasi-socialist programs doesn't make you socialist. Having the the people run(or have a real influence in) the means of production and resources and not the solely corporations/banks/etc and their proprietors is socialism.

socialism != welfare state or fascist dictatorship

Get your facts straight before you poison the well. capitalist apologist.

I still don't think you're getting it.

The relationship between government and corporations is mutual for them. They both benefit. If anything, corporations are a tool used by governments rather than the other way around.

Sorry, but I don't think Socialism means what you think it means.

Because socialism does come with a welfare state, and the differences between fascism and socialism are far and few between.

"Step 3: Bring a mafia style control to your management of control systems. Central Bank "

Bonney and clyde got a bit sick of the banksters during the depression and i can see them days coming back again, quite soon as you all bend over for your austerity measures whilst the bankers were given your tax money to continue gambling at the casino.

Banks control corporations who control your politicians via bribes so step over the corporations and go after the banks who are robbing you every single days of your lives and now they want to add a peronal carbon footprint tax for you all to pay.
