LOL....Spend, spend, spend.....Tax, tax, tax, tax....

What DON'T these folks want to tax us on? The answer: NOTHING.

And yet I am sure there will be some folks here CHEERING this type of stuff on. lol

Ugh.

The halcyon days of tax-free Internet shopping will, if Rep. Bill Delahunt gets his way, soon be coming to an abrupt end. Delahunt, a Massachusetts Democrat, introduced a bill on Thursday that would rewrite the ground rules for Internet and mail order sales by eliminating the option for many Americans to shop over the Internet without paying state sales taxes.

At the moment, Americans who shop over the Internet from out-of-state vendors usually aren't required to pay sales taxes. Californians buying books from Amazon.com or cameras from Manhattan's B&H Photo, for example, won't be required to cough up the sales taxes that they would if shopping at a local mall.

Let's see, how about they charge us for the air we breathe and tax us on that, price determined by weight? *heavy sarcasm intended*

They are going to!

You are a burden to our ecosystem, and you have to pay for it. Your carbon footprint is toxic.

I wrote a thread on this awhile ago. This administration and the democrats all need to be put of their lawmaking decisions. Like that weasel said, no good disaster shall go to waste. With the Gulf Oil Spill, they intend to enact cap & tax, with the recession they took over banks and now want to take over the internet with censorship & taxing goods of businesses who are not even in that state.

Well I bought a pc online recently. I got charged tax. I also bought something from the apple store online. I got charged tax again. The democrats are behind the times, just about every online purchase I made was taxed. I guess now they want to double and triple tax us. That sounds like a great way to encourage Americans to spend (sarcasm). If someone in the White House or congress really wanted Americans to spend more, how about letting us keep more of the money we already worked for (tax cuts)? I can hear the democrats falling over in pain at the mere thought.

I would like to point out though that the stimulus checks that Bush sent out did boost the economy and were spent by the people I know. Most people I know have to buy food even though taxes went up on that too.

Wish they would be just as creative in coming up with ways to cut spending.

Wait, we are talking about Democrats here.........nevermind.

Well, just as a side note, getting taxed on an item purchased from the Internet is not out of the ordinary, but just sometimes available. If a company is located where you live and you order from them, they are required to tax you just as if you walked through the front doors of their establishment.

In the case of Apple, they tax based on their store locations (as far as I know), so if there's a store location in your state, the state sales tax is applicable.

So if there's any good news (which in the world of taxation there rarely is), getting "double and triple" taxed in that specific fashion--probably unlikely. Getting a state income tax from certain locations in addition to a federal surcharge? Might happen.

/sigh as if we need more. Already have taxes on amazon in which i paid just to buy albums/mp3s heck even the playstation network has taxes when I buy things.

I know taxes help fund things but come on do we need more?

This is more evidence that left vs right is pointless.
They both want to control the internet.
They ALL want control.

Taxation without representation...
This has to stop....

this will never pass
as businesses will dry up on the internet
or either they will only sell to local customers
as it is virtually impossible for a small internet based
business to collect state sales tax for all 50 states.
They will have to send out 50 different payments
a month to each state. Can you imagine the headaches
of this??? It's hard enough to get them to send
in their own state sales tax, much less 50 of them.
If this passes, you can look for small businesses
to go out of business. 50 different sales tax numbers
for a business. Talk about a virtual cluster[snip] !!!!

This is targeting the lil guy on the internet as the BIG
companies have huge accounting depts to handle
state slaes tax in all 50 states.

that artic;e is already wrong. i live in california and very few things that i purchase online DO NOT require a state sales tax, including internet-only media.

Everything you say is true, however I'm absolutely convinced these guys couldn't care less about "the little guy". If it doesn't pass it will be only because of the outrage of voters, and even that is doubtful considering the way they shoved Obamacare down our throats.

Having recently escaped the socialist state of Taxachusetts, I can honestly say that this doesn't suprise me in the least. This is the state that has never seen a tax it didn't like.
