Pentagon Rebuffs Leaker

www.thedailybeast.com

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange hired lawyers to represent the Army intel analyst accused of leaking State Dept. secrets. But the Pentagon sent them away. Philip Shenon reports.

The secretive whisteblowing website WikiLeaks said Friday night that its founder, Julian Assange, had hired private criminal defense lawyers to represent the 22-year-old Army intelligence specialist accused of providing Wikileaks with highly classified combat videos from Iraq and Afghanistan.

So is this a case of the patriot act being invoked? or can the military do this legally? If Manning wants his own lawyer is he allowed to get one?

The story also confirms Assange is on the run outside of the U.S and that the afghan massacre has been decrypted and is almost ready for release.

I am almost surprised Assange is still alive, doesn't the US government typically find whoever they want WHEN they want?

by what law does the gov have to
turn away legal counsel to a defendant?
Tyranny all the way around.
Manning is being treated just like
those in Gitmo and probably will
never be released just to keep
him hushed.

Perhaps the WikiLeaks founder has other, powerful people working with him. From everything I have seen about him, he seems to be one of the good ones.

Also, with Iceland's new "journalistic haven" law, there are little glimmers of light in the world.

I've been wondering if they were going to pull something like this .

Probably is , like you said , Patriot Act being invoked .

Must be some real juicy stuff in those cables . I hope they are all crapping their pants and eating antacids by the case .

There's definitly more to this than we are hearing about tho .

Im still thinking there is a good chance all of this is disinfo.

Texts from 9/11 - > this

Like our .gov couldn't silence this guy if they really wanted to? I find that hard to believe.

Your assuming that he does not work for them, art of the dis-info to keep us guessing while they destroy the planet and run to their bunkers. I say lets start stringing up some of these ceo's and politicians, maybe then they will get the message and start doing the job they were elected to do!.

I wonder if there was stuff in the cables about Afghanistan's trillion dollar mineral wealth. So it forced their hand and made them spill the beans, since they've obviously known about it for quite some time.

And here we thought it was just about oil. tsk tsk

For all we know, maybe thats what the russians wanted when they invaded back in the day.

As for the guy they got, they'll do whatever they please with him, thats all there is to it.
