Iranian threats over Gaza keep USS Truman carrier in Mediterranean

The USS Harry S. Truman carrier, complete with its strike group of 60 warplanes and 6,000 seamen, has been ordered to turn course from the Persian Gulf and deploy with the US Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean for the time being, debkafile's military and Washington sources report. The administration's decision was prompted by incoming intelligence attesting to heightened marine and military tensions between Israel, Turkey and Iran,

This may be purely a precautionary move, as they often do every time it looks like Israel is going to get into it with somebody. In 1982 we were on our way back from gonzo station and had to stop over for another 2 weeks in the med because Israel and somebody were rattling sabers. I do know the Truman was on her way to the Persian Gulf as part of the build up there.

But with Iranian "aid" ships enroute and with Turkey saying they will be sending more ships, we may have the makings of more than saber rattling. I just wonder where the US politics will play if Israel and Turkey do more than just put on their game face.
