North Korea leadership changes strong on family ties

Dramatic changes in North Korean leadership this week appear to be paving the way for an eventual transfer of power from leader Kim Jong Il to his youngest son, analysts say.

Well, we all knew that Kim was ill and quite probably dying but it looks like now he's aware of the fact as well. But a better question is: what do we know about his youngest son, Kim Jong-un? There seems to be little to no information on him available anywhere.

Kim seems to be putting people in place who will support his son while espousing the ideals of the party. It seems unlikely that he will have strayed far from the path his father forged. Then again, he was schooled in the west as a child so maybe something stuck.

And what of Kim Jong-nam? After falling out of favour with his father, will he be an issue in his brother's succession? In any case, I bet he regrets that trip to Disneyland Japan.

Aparrantley Kim Jong-un had put a contract on the head of his bro Kim Jong-nam due to his wayward lifestyle and fondness of chicks and yes Disneyland. For those who aint aware he tried to enter Japan on a fake Dominican passport so he could visit Disneyland (of all places).
Personaly i would prefer the Mickey mouse lover to take power then maybe things could calm down in the North and open it up to the world.

On another note a North Korean soldier shot 3 Chinese people on the border last week....

It would almost be wiser in Kim's mind to remove his other son from contendership, he needs to maintain total control to keep the country intact and secure power for his heir. If there is any perceived dischord in the family or the party his political rivals could see it as an opportunity.

A wayward son would make a great puppet leader for other DPRK interest groups, or the west. I think this is why he's shuffling the power structure a little bit. He wants to ensure that people he can trust are in place to guide his son and protect him from political rivals.
