Whats everyone's opinion on these bases? I think they might exist but what purpose would they have on mars??

A Mars base would be ingenious. Since Mars is not planned on being used in the near future, nuclear tests could take place without much conflict.
Also, Since there's no atmosphere there could be tests with things that would be otherwise impossible to test on earth.
