With an estimated 5000 barrels (210,000 gallons) of oil spewing from the mouth of hell in our once pristine waters of the Gulf coast for 2 weeks, we already know we are looking at the area from Panama City Beach to Houston Texas will be affected if not utterly laid to waste for decades.

What could make this scenario even worse? How about the fact that the well head is kinked, which is actually slowing the flow. The kinks happened when the rig blew up and sank to the bottom of the ocean, bending the pipeline in the process. There is also the fact that silt and sand are eating away at the pipe from the inside. If this pipe unkinks, breaks, or erodes away, we are looking at a flow as high as 10 times current rate.

What could make this scenario worse than that? When, not if, the oil hits our Gulf Current Loop it will travel south along Florida's west coast, into the Keys, the Everglades, through the Florida Straights and up the east coast of the United States, and onto Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland, crossing the Atlantic, ruining everything in it's path along the way.

What could make this scenario worse still? It's estimated it will take three months to drill a relief well.

So let's recap.

Worse case scenario:
Pipe erodes and/or breaks increasing flow to 50,000 barrels or 2.1 million gallons a day for three months. Oil travels around the world, devastating beaches and marine life on the entire planet.
