It is not a matter if the people of America will accept socialism its a matter of degree. America has always had some form of socialism. The United States Post office is socialist and is actually one of the powers delegated to Federal Government by the Constitution.

interstate highway socialist
postal service socialist
law enforcement socialist
fire departments socialist

any service we have that has City, County , State or Federal in its name is pretty much socialist its just a matter of degree of socialism we are willing to accept.

Just look at the source and background of this information.

AOL is extremely liberal & socialist, just look at their publications and media ownership.

Pew is a charitable trust that gives to the socialist organizations like the Ford Foundation- "working with visionaries on the frontline of social change worldwide".

Call me skeptical, but I think their poll is a little biased.

Hey guys...I realize I am a good ol' fashioned American.... love my country, mom, God, my pick up, and John Wayne. I really feel when it comes to America, love it or leave it...

That being said, for better or worse, the reason I do not like any form of Socialism is thye movie version of 1984...Orwell's classic starring John Hurt, Richard Burton... most depressing damn movie I have ever seen. What's so bad, I see it happening all around..here and abroad.

I will die before I surrender to that type of lifestyle.... never, never, never will I live where the govt controls my thoughts or expressions of freedom or my God given rights are limited. "But you already live there"....not for long.

I am sure that hundreds of thousands of unemployed people, and corporate greed, economy and inflation have alot to do with this posture. These are desperate times and many families are seeking help just to keep a roof over the heads. Don't know if you call it socialism, but "stimulus" sure didn't work.
