MEXICO CITY – Mexico's drug cartels have changed tactics and are turning more attacks on authorities, rather than focusing their fire on rivals gangs, the country's top security official said Sunday.

"In the last few weeks the dynamics of the violence have changed. The criminals have decided to directly confront and attack the authorities," Gomez-Mont said.

It looks like the gangs and cartels are shifting their focus on the goverment now. On saturday they ambushed a convoy carrying a top securiy official with grenades and assault rifles.

I wonder how this is all going to play out in the next few weeks. Will the cartels overrun the goverment? It looks like it may be possible soon.

Also there was an article that came out and said the cartels are using facebook, twitter, ect... to spread their messages. The city of Cuernavaca got a threat that said the cartels put in a curfew for the city and the residents took the threat seriously and didnt go outside. How worse is it going to get?
