Well here we go. Now that Healthcare Reform has passed, it becomes the justification for controlling what we can choose to eat. JUST AS MANY OF US PREDICTED.

Welcome to Healthcare Hell!

So now they are going to tell us how much salt we can eat or limit how much salt is in our foods, and they justify it by saying it is for our own good and because it will save on the cost of healthcare.

This is such BS and you know this is just the early stages. Hey maybe we could make the case that we should get free salt, because it saves them money on Social Security if we have a heart attack and die when we are 50.

Source

U.S. researchers said in a recent study that working with the food industry to cut salt intake by nearly 10 percent could prevent hundreds of thousands of heart attacks and strokes over several decades and save the U.S. government $32 billion in healthcare costs.

It would help if Americans were not so disapproving of each other.
Everyone jumps on this bandwagon or that, all in the name of health.

IE Smoking. Now Cigarettes are already like 4.00+ a pack in Georgia, and people recently were polled and about 80% were ok with raising that tax ANOTHER dollar. So now, if you're poor, you can forget about smoking IF you want to. I don't smoke, but I've family members that do, and they can't seem to quit, and 120.00 a month HURTS their families. It opened my eyes, and I found out that all that tax money is NOT going for smoker's healthcare. lol It's being used for playgrounds and govt. pet projects, ect.

Now they are starting down the food path, and people are acting - to me - like they are being LED into this mindset that taxing fat people will HELP them. But there maybe too many fat people for that to fly, I dunno, a lot depends on how bad they can erode the self esteem of the overweight.

It's a slippery slope - let's tax everyone BUT ME! Look, I'm healthy. I live a lifestyle that is exactly what experts say I should live. So don't tax ME - tax THEM!

While limiting salt for all Americans can be a good thing, it is just not up to the government whether that happens or not! When are they going to learn that they work for us!!! Not the other way around. This is another step towards socialism, and the Nanny State. Hope these people are stopped soon.

You are exactly right Hadriana. Smokers warned everyone....once the government got their foot in the door with smokers, fat people will be next. Pehaps they will tax fast food joints $2.00 per order. I think that would be fair and on par with cigarette taxes.

Pandora's box has been opened. We are fair game now. Bet you won't see taxes on liquor going up will we. No, because our nations leaders are drunk happy.
