Locust plague ravages farmland the size of Spain in eastern Australia

SWARMS of locusts have infested a huge area of eastern Australia roughly the size of Spain after recent floods, ravaging farmland, a top official says.

Chris Adriaansen, head of the Australian Plague Locust Commission, said the quick-breeding creatures had hit from Longreach in Queensland in the northeast to Melbourne and Adelaide - about 500,000 square kilometres.

Put locusts on the top of your shopping list

Bear Grylls reckons they're a top notch source of protein and energy, and being quite large, its not like you have to eat a thousand of them to get a good feed, like ants for instance...Imagine how long billions of them would last or how many people they'd feed ?

And Bear also reckons they're not too bad taste-wise as well

Good grief, now locust. Maybe they could be taught to pollenate and the loss of the bees could be minimized. Sure TPTB could tweek there DNA..

Bear's usual description ... "Tastes like warm mucus, with cruchy bits".

We could export them to Bangkok. they love their bugs fresh from the wok.
