Interesting, however I'm not sure exactly what this proves that sometimes people love what they got and other times hate it?

I would like to point something out for those who don't know, the Democratic party of the 1800's was basically the Conservative Party, the Whigs were more Liberal so to say. Also the Senators were elected by the states legislature not by the people, this changed in the early 1900's I believe.
