Cover up? Distractions?

I've been following the news lately and I read things about so called secret military missions and spies but how is it a secret when they print it in the news and post it online? I know about propaganda but are they using tv the news to distract us from what is really going on? Are they making sure that we don't know what out government is really doing so we don't try to rebel? What are your thoughts or additional information about my theory.

He is doing the "National Media Rounds" for "Heaven's" sake. He was "asked" to do the book, he didn't just decide to write it. On the View he left the Dems joking, the Rep in stark denial and Barbara - Barbara looked like she had seen a loved one die hideously in front of her. And there was Jesse looking chubby, dumb & happy.
