Even if the "Underwear Bomber" Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had exploded his device on Christmas day, 2009, the Airbus A330 would have survived, according to an experiment conducted by a BBC documentary team.

Thought this article was interesting. So even if the bomb detonated, it wouldn't have done a huge amount of damage (although even one person dying is too many).

Does this indicate incompetence on the part of the bomber, or something else?

I am not at all surprised by this finding.

I feel that the entire act was staged and was simply another means of selling fear to further promote the war on terror and the subsequent laws further enslaving the American people by removing all of their rights.

Just look at the recent full body scanners and the recent McCain legislation pertaining to the removal of all rights of habeus corpus for "anti-government activities.

You might be right. It could have been a false flag attempt, but I'm not 100% convinced that's the case. Perhaps he really intended to blow up the plane, but didn't do his homwork on how to prepare carefully. Then the government recognized a "good thing" when they saw it, and pushed these new scanners on us.....

The "bombing attempt" was only a ruse. There obviously was not enough explosive in his underwear to anything but perhaps create a diversion for...?? Or, serve as a test run for bigger future ops. The detonator was a chemical based type which is particularly an unusual choice for such an inexperienced and uneducated bomber to choose on his own.

It did as it was designed to do.For you uneducated,a terrorist does not have to be successful to be a terrorist.

Even if he fails but is found out he has achieve his goal of creating a fearful and paranoid society of his enemy.

The authorities will enact rules and regulations that will create discomfort and cause them to spend Millions on security measures that are not actually effective.

His actions put fear in the society and exposed the government as no more than inept fools.

He terrorized us.He did achieve one of his goals.And got free health care to treat his burned genitalia.

And the Media is complicit in the terror by repeatedly publicizing it.
