This is my solar calculator which I have named Dexter. He usually communicates with me on a daily basis... unprompted and entirely on his own. I just hit the clear button before I go to bed... and the first thing I do when I get up in the morning is go and look to see what Dexter has posted on his display.

I'm curious as to what other people may think is going on with Dexter. I have alot of older photos to share depending on the responses I get. So EVERYBODY... knock yourselves out.

Ghost in the machine, man!

Ever noticed any kind of pattern or anything that ever made any sense?

As the lights dim the voltage in the calculator reaches a certain threshold where all the transistors that do the processing cant decide whether the ones and zeros are a one or a zero so they kind of just bounce around and end up producing gobbly gook that gets displayed on the LCD. This happens as the voltage comes up slowly in the morning too. If the system voltage from the solar cell is at the exact voltage between a one and a zero for any length of time the transistors in the processor may produce either a one or zero when they switch. This is very common with anything solar powered and anything with low batteries.

Either that or you calculator has a personality.

Actually yes. On many occasions he appeared to be keeping score.

And then other times he was into goose eggs.

Lots and lots of GOOSE EGGS.
