From what I can tell, www.aph.gov.au is still down. Is Anonymous still attacking the site? I'm surprised they have kept this up for so long.

Wow, this is going better than I had expected. Maybe we will actually be able to get the message across to the world this time.

Anonymous strikes again! That is great, it is good to see people using their skills to collectively stand up for something they believe in. I'm sure the Australian government is scrambling right now trying to figure out how to deal with them.

Targets are being changed hourly. This is not just 4chan, most of the *chans are invloved. The raid has been going for around 24 hours and at last count in two IRC there were near 1k people. 430 or so in the one previously posted. You're safe joining an IRC channel. I would caution against clicking any links in chat etc. Hard to say if this is going to die in an hour or in a week. People are pissed, and rightly so. It is not about blocking porn, protecting the small breasted etc. It is about internet freedom. Blocking certain sites on suspicion of misdeeds is akin to blocking a persons mail because they were once sent a porno mag. Everyone should be concerned about this. ATS is a site that could easily be labeled as anti govt, and then blocked.

Well, Join the fight. You don't have to do anything illegal, just voice concerns. Contact the AU govt. and let them know how you feel, and that they are abusing a very basic freedom. It's almost like regulating what you say to a friend... Say what you want but if it goes against what 'we' think is best for you, it's jail time.

here is a link to some more info on the subject. Take what you want from it, I won't condone illegal action but I do think it is worth it to just send some e-mails.

Send emails to your ISPs and inform them you will no longer require their service if this filter is put into place. Once the ISPs gather enough emails with regards to this boycott, the Government will feel the heat not only with the potential loss of tax revenue, one of their most effective surveillance tools will also be jeopardized.

You should also inform the ISPs they may be in breach of the service contract by adding this filter because this is not the content you originally signed up for. You may want to read over your ISP contract and see if there is anything in there with regards to content and censorship.

You also have to put pressure on your representatives. A couple of years ago the Canadian Government was trying to pass a new copyright law and they shelved it because of political pressure.

Professor Michael Geist is one of the most knowledgeable individuals in the area of internet law in Canada and internationally. Maybe you can bring up this issue on his blog:

Sphinx - while nobel, it really wouldn't help.

Trust me on this one - I am part owner of an ISP and the bulk of our income is generated through business, not individuals.

Also, I am not sure the link above your post should be made public - at least not on this site. Legalities and all that.

Interesting development: history.albany.wa.gov.au has been hacked and now features a video statement from anonymous.

One would think this is a topic the ATS crew would flood towards. I guess the lack of drive on behalf of this community confirms a long standing belief of mine - it's full of BS and crap, over commercialized and the vision is gone.

This is crisko signing off - after 5 years I am done.

We are legion

We do not forgive

We do not forget

Expect us

What would people do if the internet in America was just about to be filtered?

Its not that far off, in fact its estimated 2-5 years. The primer will be a sensitive intrusion which will directly affect millions home and abroad. Thats when everyone will demand more secure networks from isp's, thats when leading isp's will ask, us !

Perhaps it should have had an attached secret ufo or alien image that somehow some alphabet agency is holding back. That's when you would have the hordes jump in, screaming murder bloody murder. Oh well, looks like no discolure to be found here.......lets keep surfing

pid enough to believe that's how you get policy changed then maybe you deserve to have your internet filtered.

Well if you have any answers we're all ears here.

And don't say protesting, that just gets us killed / arrested / humiliated /ignored...

Yes, the best answer of all! Get involved in politics over there. Run for office. Get petitions with a million names signed and get copies to the politicians over there. Get another petition with a million plus signatures saying that if this happens they will not vote to re-elect certain members of office send it to them. Hit them right where they understand it - where the votes are!

Just wanted to give you a heads up, this is what i am referring to :

The worm infected computers at the Greater Manchester Police, forcing officers there to rely on neighboring jurisdictions to access the national criminal records database, according to published reports.

Rather than run the risk of infecting the rest of the Police National Computer network, the Manchester network was disconnected from it. The worm was brought under control by Monday afternoon, and it was expected that the network would be brought back online sometime Tuesday.

Any noob can join the ranks of Anonymous, and most of them are mindless highschoolers who think it's so cool to use script kiddie programs developed by the few more intelligent members. It is a huge bandwagon, and it's hard to believe that there isn't much secrecy behind the attacks, but yet they pull them off with nobody expecting them. I saw a few posts signaling the attack a while back on their site; it's been around for a while (on a week(s) spectrum).

I'm not exactly knocking "Anonymous" down, because I do like what they do with their organized mindless group. Maybe if more of them had education on their targets instead of "omg lets og hackk a websight wiht these new toyz" I would give them credit. But like I said before, those few members DO impress me when these events roll around. And to anyone who is offended by their website, that is the reason it exists.

And I really despise it when everyone and anyone says the little motto they made up... being anonymous is about being ANONYMOUS - not about parading yourself around like an invalid for everyone to see. That's where the group gains most of its power, because it is a collaboration of many individuals who want to fight back in any way they can. But don't go waltzing around saying you're a member of the 31337 group anonymous, because in essence you truly are not by doing so.

...but then again maybe I've been trolled.
