Apparently China has mandated spyboxes in Karaoke machines that monitor the playlist, so that songs that promote political dissent, or vulgar songs will be reported to the police. They are really defining the art of fascism for the 21st century, huh?

China's karaoke crackdown - Hundreds of bars install government box that spies on music

China's karaoke bars are being monitored as part of the government's crackdown on vulgarity and dissent.

Nearly 180 bars in the city of Chongqing and hundreds more around the country have installed the government's National Karaoke Content Management System or "The Black Box" as it is more popularly known, which monitors the playlist remotely and automatically calls the police if a warbler selects a vulgar tune or banned song.

The banned songs contain obscenities or rallying calls for independence in places such as Tibet.

At least 10 songs containing what authorities consider vulgar words, including "Nightmare," "Even the Pig Smiles" and "Conquer the World," have been deleted so far.

The system is also aimed at stopping piracy, as it logs unlicensed imports of music.

As part of the campaign against smut, the culture ministry also is monitoring 81,000 Internet cafes to weed out "lewd, pornographic and violent content." It blocked access to banned websites more than 87 million times in 2009.

Most people dont recall, even though America has always said Freedom of the Press. It has never been free. it has been as communist as china ever could. they still refuse to show you death on TV. its fake death or no death or clean historical death. not the day in day out blood gore, I find so distasteful in other countries. and then you ask yourself what else are they simply not reporting and you end up with all kinds of stuff. embarassing stuff. stuff that would make a difference to the voters I would think. watch Good Morning Vietnam for example censorship. and we know have professional liars like Popular Mechanics and the Hurst Corporation ... now its not by accident they broadcast the history channel.
what 5 corporations control everything you read see or hear... now thats power man.
