UN nuclear observatory to be used for espionage: Iran official

www.cbc.ca

Iran has accused the UN on Wednesday of trying to spy on the country with the construction near its border of a new seismic monitoring station designed to detect tremors from nuclear explosions.

Construction was completed last week at the monitoring station, located in Turkmenistan between the Karakum Desert and the Kopet Dag mountain range, just a few kilometres from the Iranian border.

It is one of 337 facilities belonging to the International Monitoring System and overseen by the Vienna-based Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, or CTBTO.

I wouln't really be surprised if this was true.

Mind you Iran has been hitting it's head against a brick wall lately and seems to WANT some sort of retribution from it's enemies.

Clear defiance is the agenda of the day apparently.

What do you all think? Is this station specifically designed and placed to see if Iran is testing anything in the new facility? Or is this something that was planned a while ago and just happens to be finished now?
