news.sky.com...< br />

An intercity train has been derailed in Russia, with up to 25 people killed and 55 others injured.
According to Russia's Interfax news agency, law enforcement sources have said "it could have been caused by a terrorist act."

Sky News correspondent Amanda Walker said reports indicate that the accident occurred around 9.30pm on the commuter train heading from Moscow.

"The accident occured on the busy line between Russia's two biggest cities," Walker said.

The train was believed to be about about halfway - 180 miles - into the journey when the last four carriages of the commuter train derailed.

Walker said unconfirmed witness reports described seeing a crater by the trackside.

The train route was hit by terrorist action two years ago.

A mobile field hospital is being set up in the area, near Bologoye.

"That gives you an idea of the scale of the operation," Walker said.

"At first there were reports it may have been a technical fault but more unconfirmed reports are coming through saying it may be terrorism."

I'll reserve judgement on this one, for the time.

When someone stubs their toe they say it might be terrorism.

Russia train crash investigation examines bomb theory .news.bbc.co.uk...

It would seem that a crater found at the site is raising suspicions that it may well be a bomb attack.

A crater has been found near the track, raising suspicions that a bomb may have been used to derail the train.

Not sure if anyone has been watching the news about this, but it's being reported that there was a second bomb that went off at the wreckage, killing 30 people.

Who knows who did this, but I'm wary about the quick headline of terrorism. We will see what happens.

Moscow, Russia (CNN) -- Investigators probing the derailment of an express train in Russia have found "elements of an explosive device" at the site and believe an act of terror caused the deadly incident.

The derailment killed at least 26 people and injured about 100, but there was no immediate word on who or what group might have been behind the action.

"One can say with certainty that that was indeed an act of terror," Vladimir Markin, spokesman for the investigative committee of the Russian prosecutor's office, told CNN.

They are certain it was an attack. Now there has also been a second explosion

A second bomb has gone off at the site where an explosive earlier sent a luxury express train careering off the tracks in Russia killing dozens of people. The less powerful bomb is not thought to have injured anyone, the head of Russia's state railway operator said.

The train was originally derailed by a bomb equivalent to 7kg (15lb) of TNT, the head of Russia's domestic intelligence service told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

~snip~

Russia's Health Minister Tatyana Golikova has said 39 people have been killed, 18 are missing and more than 90 are being treated in hospital. But death toll is still unclear.

What has been going on in Russia lately?
Russia is not involved in Iraq or Afghanistan so I would wonder if this is an attack from within domestic Russia. We'll have to see how this unfolds.
