Israeli scientists have created a computer that can perform 330 trillion operations per second, more than 100,000 times the speed of the fastest PC! The secret: It runs on DNA! Although this technology is far from finding its way to your desktop the science behind it has been proved to work. Beyond living computers for use in traditional applications this technology will revolutionize the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields.

A year ago, researchers from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, unveiled a programmable molecular computing machine composed of enzymes and DNA molecules instead of silicon microchips. Now the team has gone one step further. In the new device, the single DNA molecule that provides the computer with the input data also provides all the necessary fuel.

The design is considered a giant step in DNA computing. The Guinness World Records last week recognized the computer as "the smallest biological computing device" ever constructed. DNA computing is in its infancy, and its implications are only beginning to be explored. But it could transform the future of computers, especially in pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.

This will be the next giant leap in computing power and may lead to the combining of man and machine. It would seem that computers based on DNA would more easily combine with the human body allowing for things such as better sight, hearing, memory and intelligence.

Whoa.......

......alright my good man ....now this makes lilblams argument against skeptic overload about computers and DNA completely valid....we were discussing this in a thread concerning the chip to be implanted in humans .....it was something like the chip and a cashless society it was authored by godservant ....sceptic said stuff like this was ways off and lilblam said what the government had and what we knew were two different things......I feel this is definitely reverse engineering and its source is from alien tech.....
This is the technology of the cashless society and bigs brother best friend in tracking us and making us slaves .....the possibilities for misuse of this technology are infinite .....it could be used to control you completely!!!!

And doesnt it figure that the Israelis put this together....
watch this region to be one helluva flash point in the next 6 years.....

Yeah, you might also like to know that they have done experiments where they got neurons to interact with silicon microprocessors. VERY interesting if I say so meself...

Read up some Ray Kurzweil for alternative visions of future technology, and the legal rights of machines. The scenarios may come to pass sooner than 2029 at this rate.

This is getting too scary! The human race is having too much trouble as it is. Great - now all we need is to have billions of human computers running around on any one of many Windows operating systems. Wonderful - lockups - the Blue Screen of Death - trojans - viruses - the end of the human race as we know it!

Not sure about "the end", but certainly a more rapidly approaching blurring of the boundaries between what is human and what is machine.

The accelerated decoding of the human genome and on-off switches has no doubt contributed to the pace.
