Mass swine flu vaccination started in Japan. 19th October 09.

Just saw this on the news about an hour ago. Vaccinations started on 19th October, seems countries are following their lead, such as Russia. Although, these vaccinations are not forced and are costing citizens $60 per shot.

TOKYO, October 19 (RIA Novosti) - A large-scale vaccination campaign against swine flu started in Japan on Monday, with priority given to medical staff, the country's health ministry said.

Some 77 million people, more than half of Japan's population, are to be vaccinated against the H1N1 virus by March 2010, the ministry said. Japan is expected to produce 27 million vaccine doses, with another 50 million to be imported.

Vaccination will be on a voluntary basis, with priority first given to medical workers, then from November to people suffering from serious diseases and pregnant women, and then children aged up to 10 years starting from mid-December. Other children, elderly people and infants' parents are to be vaccinated starting from January.

Now, I'm wondering..are we just paranoid or is this supposed to made out as 'our idea' and a choice made out of 'free will'? What will happen to those in the schools and workplace that do not CHOOSE to get vaccinated?

Obviously, the ones running the show are not stupid enough to go around forcing people to get vaccinated. If they did, people would do what's in their nature and rebel, not getting the vaccine. But make it a 'choice' and make them PAY for it- no harm no foul,right?

Or are we just paranoid???

I'm interested in being updated from other countries. But I'm not sure of what to ask for specifically. What's the percentage of Japanese people that are expected, or are getting shots? How does the vaccine there differ in ingredients from the one in the u.s.?

Has the swine flu spread in japan? Here the president just declared an emergency, but we've seen no rapid development.

The United States said Thursday it has begun implementing a massive campaign to vaccinate millions of Americans against swine flu, with the first 600,000 doses to be distributed in coming days.

"We are transitioning from the planning phase to the implementation phase," Schuchat told reporters.
