Police: Bones found on Garrido property

www.cnn.com

ANTIOCH, California (CNN) -- Investigators have found bones on the property where kidnapping suspects Phillip and Nancy Garrido lived for 18 years with Jaycee Dugard and her two daughters, police said Wednesday.

More bones of undetermined origin also were found on property adjacent to the home, Lt. Chris Orrey of the Hayward Police Department said.

"We have located what appear to be bones on both properties," Orrey told reporters. "We can't tell at this point if those bones are human or animal."

More developments on this bizarre and troubling story of child kidnapping and enslavement in what appears to be an ongoing effort to find some answers to some still unresolved missing person’s cases.

Forensic examiners aren’t sure at this point or not from initial examination whether they are human or animal bones, which makes me wonder what condition the bones must be in for them to be unsure after a cursory examination.

It’s a highly troubling development, and a strange one at that, begging the question why he might have chosen to kill some victims while imprisoning others and keeping them year after year as captives.
