The Clash covering Junior Murvin's Police And Thieves.

Both The Clash and The Pistols listened to a lot of Reggae and so many of us did.
Some of us still do.

And 4 lads from Belfast who turned a Bob Marley song into a classic of their own.

Favorite Covers:

Marissa Nadlers cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Famous Blue Raincoat' is sublime beyond belief.

Jimi Hendrix's cover of Dylan's 'All Along The Watchtower' is an absolute masterpiece.

Aretha Franklin's covers of The Band's 'The Weight', and Otis Redding's 'Respect' are awesome slabs of soul.

The Ramones cover of The Ronette's 'Baby I Love You' is a classic version of a classic song.

Hmm.. Not sure where my head was when I typed that. You are correct of course.

An artist who does some interesting covers is Marylin Manson. For an artist with an extensive catalogue of amazing original songs, he has picked some interesting choices of music to cover. An homage to bands or a genre that influenced him I assume.

Tainted Love.(Originally by Soft Cell)

Personal Jesus(Originaly by Depeche Mode)

I Put A Spell On You(Originally by Screamin' Jay Hawkins)

Sweet Dreams(Originally by The Eurythmics)
