orb CNN live - 7/24/09

The astronaut could not see the orb though ground control clearly could!



Space junk or an orb?

At first, I thought space junk, but the way it seems to just pop out of existence at 00:34 (if that isn't a trick of light) would rule that out. I'm not sure what that is, but good find, S&F.

Ground control stop the conversation before the astronaut has been told the exact location of the object. If it is space debri from the station you would presume it would be crucial to identify the object.?

That is very cool, you would have thought if they were ice crystals that the ground crew wouldn't have even mentioned them.Whats this on this new video (posted below)

the popping out you see is the orb reaching the limits of the youtube video.
but still impressive footage!

I really think that's lens flare.

You can see 2 more lens flares to the right, which move in line & pivot with the 1 on the left, as it moves.

The fact they move & pivot together in a line seals it IMHO.

I think the first object in your video is debris. You can see the "tumbling" motion quite clearly.

I think the second "object" is lens flare, as discussed on another current thread.

Yes I think you are right.If you look at the small ring shaped things there is a ever increasing in size stack of them on the right hand side just like lens flare.

The object in question is constant throughout the clip in the shape of an orb?

lens flare most definitely.
