US-backed Colombian soldiers execute innocent for cash

The United States is slated to hand over some $750 million in mostly military aid to Colombia this year. The potential contribution of US taxpayers’ money to fund the killing of innocent people — though likely inadvertent on the part of the Colombian government — will almost certainly raise eyebrows among human-rights activists and others who have long criticized the Colombian government’s actions in its war against coc aine and insurgents.

So, in order to continue our 'war on drugs,' we're paying Colombian thugs $750 million a year to kill innocent people. Is it just me or does this seem wrong to anyone else? Here's an idea: end the 'war on drugs,' give that money back to the American Tax Payer to help in the economic recovery, and save the lives that would've been lost with said money as well as all the lives lost due to the existence of the black market. But I guess that just makes too much sense, doesn't it?
