MP3s of three of the new songs were just posted here:
ourworld.compuserve.com...

Now, I use to be one of those obsessed Cure fans that has seen then 9/10 times, been into them for the past 2 decades, has over 300 bootleg concert and have even gotten to meet the band during the short Galore tour in a NYC club. With that said, WTF? The band has had a steady decline in originality and quality of their material since the early 90's. The three new songs sound like left over ones from their last album....which just sounded like left over songs from the album before.

Anyone else feel this way? Perhaps I should have put this in the rant section.:bnghd:

Years ago I had the priviledge of seeing Robert Smith bombing through the Sussex countryside in his four wheel drive. I recognised the big hair and lipstick as he drove past our bus. The girl sitting next to me was a goth and almost burst my eardrum with her orgasmic screams. That said haven't heard anything by the Cure in years.

You are better off that way! The main reason that I liked them so much was because they were completely re-inventing themselves every album:

3 Imaginary boys (punk)
Boys Don't Cry (alternative pop)
Seventeen Seconds (moody w/ heavy guitars)
Faith (doom & gloom)
Pornography (just plain violent)
Japanese Whispers (idiot, but catchy, pop)
The Top (schizophranic)
Head on The Door (really varied mix of songs)
Kiss Me x3 (Really, really varied mix of songs)
Disintigration (dark/moody)

After 89', who cares! I suppose that after awhile most bands just get burnt out, but it is disappointing when it is a band that you have been into for years. Oh well, I suppose that it was really no surprise.
