The first video here is an interview with Daniel Hannon, a member of the European Parliament. His comments are incredibly insightful and to the point. He warns American politicians not to follow in the footsteps of Great Britain. Specifically, he warns that:

* You can't spend your way out of a depression
* You can't borrow your way out of debt
* You can't repeatedly siphon from the achievers to give to the less fortunate
* Job creation in the gov't sector is not the way to economic prosperity

and, most importantly

* National Health Care is a terrible solution.

This man, a European, has a better grasp on the politics and economy of America than do most Americans. It is worthwhile to watch this interview, and to heed his words.

Obama is leading us down the catastrophic path of socialism. We must turn the wagons around before we all plunge over the cliff to destruction.

I urge you to watch this video.

I wonder why Hannity was so hard on Ron Paul for stating these things, and now has a change in heart.

At 5:17 of that clip, something in green flashes on the screen. I can't seem to get a shot of that split second to see what it says. Is it a mistake by Fox or subliminal crap?

Great video, nonetheless.

In many ways, even if true that the NHS has serious problems, even the Conservatives in the UK don't dare to get rid of it, as it's just too popular with the population. Even Thatcher, who many would see as almost as right wing as Reagan was unable to do anything about, as it would have ruined her.

Even with it's problems, most UK citizens (and indeed, most citizens in western democracies) really support the idea of an NHS. They tend to get more angry about specific current issues in the system, rather than the existence of the system itself.

EDIT: the looney, I have the means to check that green flash out, will get the frame and post it here if it's not just some glitch in the encoding.

EDIT2: ok, you can see the frame here, it's just a glitch with the Hannity titles, a technical error, no subliminal IMO.

Hannan is a HUGE fan of Ron Paul and has the right idea about things and has been on the show Freedom watch quite often.

It took hannity quite a long time to have the guy on after he's been all over the place.

Anything that comes out of Hannity's mouth is for the most part biased pro war gibberish.

I can't stand him...the man he is interviewing..for what I can tell...seems to be a good man.

Because Ron Paul was against the war when Hannity was railing for it. Hannity sucks.

Zero credibility.

I wasn't aware that Hannity was hard on RP. Can you give some examples?

as far as im concerned , sean hannity is a flip flopper

b4 obama was elected, he was 100% pro govt no matter what

now that Obama won, he is 100% anti govt

thats a pure brainwashed hypocrite

anyone worth their salt - would have known the govt has been ultra corrupt BEFORE obama ever got into office!

that is why i think Sean hannity and the other neo cons are pretending to be "ron pauls" in order to HIJACK the resistance movement and turn it into a republican vs democrat argument

the reality is tho, that neither the dems or repubs care about anything but their own personal profit

Thanks, that kind of creeped me out.

Watching that Hannity clip - I remember that when it happened - pissed me off then and still does. He won't even let RP talk. What a douche.

Well, let's see. We have students in China who laugh at our Treasury Secretary when he tries the same economic lying BS on them, and they are a former Communist nation, bone deep.

Russian economists and commentators have warned Obama to not continue in his Marxist rut he is implementing.

Now we have the Brits warning of the failures of socialist mistakes that they have made.

Gee.

You really think they know something Obama doesn't?

Do you really think he gives a fuzzy rat's ***?

In this video, at :50...Hannan says if he could have voted for anyone in the last election...it would have been Ron Paul.

Why all the posts about Ron Paul? This thread is about Daniel Hannon and his perspective on the treachorous path that Obama has set us on.

RP lost the election. And it wasn't because of Sean Hannity. It was because he could not relate to the american voters, for a variety of reasons.

I am a little confused as to your calls of 'Totalitarianism' here, If I were formulating arguments against it, I think a better way to describe it would be "democratic mob rule", as the will of the majority of the populace interferes with that small percentage who don't want to be in the system. Although they can take back some credits, towards getting private insurance instead (about 15% of the UK population has private insurance), they will still end up paying something towards the system.

If I were to think of arguments for Totalitarianism in the UK, I would probably go more with issues such as regulation of victim-less crimes, clauses in free speech for certain groups, and the surveillance state, As these are things chosen by the state, more than the people.
