Israel TV star 'ordered attacks'
One of Israel's most famous entertainers has been accused of ordering attacks on TV executives who turned down his ideas.

Dudu Topaz, 62, whose own TV show was cancelled five years ago, was arrested on Sunday. He denies any involvement.

Over the past year, thugs assaulted two TV executives and an agent. The most recent case, last month, ended up in hospital with a broken nose.

Topaz is a household name in Israel for his popular variety shows.

But in recent years his career has been on the wane, and he was keen to make a comeback.

'Total shock'

His arrest has dominated the headlines in Israel, pushing other stories - including accounts of the fighting in the West Bank - down the news agenda.

Topaz's lawyer said his client was in "total shock" at the allegations. And last night Topaz told Israeli TV: "Someone stupid and cruel is spreading these rumours."

It is not the first time Topaz has courted controversy.

In 2003, on a TV show, he bit the arm of a Latin American soap opera star. And in 1995 he broke the glasses of a TV critic who had given his show a bad review.

Three other people have been arrested in connection with the most recent attacks. Two appeared in court on Sunday, where the judge described them as "the operational arm, but not the initiators" of the assaults.

Israeli children learn early to throw stones at others in their society who have a different point of view. Ask any who have chosen to leave the dogma infatuated Hassidic sect and they will show you their battle scars.

There is something of a patriarchal and aggressive nature inherent within the whole Middle East - a resonance, which affects all who inhabit the place. They can have it.

The Talmud teaches them that non-Jews are not human and that they are to be treated as cattle (not that I would ever advocate treating animals as they treat their neighbours). Non-Jews are referred to as Goyim which apparently translates as cattle.

Perhaps the problem here is that they base their "spiritual" beliefs on a viewpoint developed 5000 or so years ago. This failure to move with the times is a major problem for all of the major religions and is also their downfall.

Christianity as another example became outdated for the majority around the eighth century. The Protestant Reformation was an attempt to move forward, but it too has failed. Today Christian sects have changed, but only when threatened with their own demise. The leaders are lost and unable to lead spiritually. This is not to say that there is a lack of spiritual development within many people, but that it generally does not come from religion.

It may seem weird that the Israeli children are taught to hate Americans when most of their funding comes from the US, however there is a massively disproportionate percentage of people in very powerful positions in the US who have Israeli and US citizenship. The Jews only comprise 2% of the US population and yet their power is, it would seem, overwhelming. Let us hope that they do not do to the US what they did to Russia and the countries which later became the USSR. US citizens need to be aware of the history behind the Bolsheviks.

They were enemies then , and made sure we keep the 'fight' going..
Christians vs muslims etc.
