Article for you to think about,

By Chuck Baldwin

First, it was a Missouri Analysis and Information Center (MIAC) report; then it was a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report; now it is a New York congressman's bill. Each of these items, taken on their own, is problematic enough; taken together they portend "a clear and present danger" to the liberties of the American people. It is getting very serious now.

As readers may recall, the MIAC report profiled certain people as being potential violence-prone "militia members": including people who supported Presidential candidates Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and myself. In addition, anyone who opposed one or more of the following were also included in the list: the New World Order, the U.N., gun control, the violation of Posse Comitatus, the Federal Reserve, the Income Tax, the Ammunition Accountability Act, a possible Constitutional Convention, the North American Union, the Universal Service Program, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), abortion on demand, or illegal immigration.

For me this is old news, it doesn't really suggest anything that hasn't been discussed before.

I also suspect a biased opinion and inflation of the facts to suit the writer.

We know that the government (any government) is against groups who challenge its doctrine. It was always clear to me that the Bush government would go after anyone it saw as a threat and declare them as "enemy combatants". And the Obama administration is no different in this regard.

Yes, they should be wary of right-wing groups within the US. They should be cautious of armed militias too. But that is the extent to which action should be taken. They should be monitored where appropriate.
This should never extend to gathering data on, and restricting the rights of, the free people who discuss government and the future with an analytical and sometimes suspicious mind.

Fact, if you oppose, argue, debate or contradict your government you are subject to suspicion and monitoring. That is what is wrong here, not the monitoring of dangerous groups intent to actually cause harm.

For the first time in my life I fear my government and their draconian laws. I fear that my right to express my opinion, even when it goes against the opinions of government, is in jeopardy and makes me subject to investigation. I understand the need to protect the safety of the people, but the phrase "hammer to crack a nut" springs to mind.

By taking the actions against freedoms that we are now taking, even making people wary of discussing freely, is dangerous, and it's doing the work of those who wish to hurt us for them. They don't need to attack us at all if our own defense is doing the same to us as their actions would.

thank you Janus. It just sets me off the edge when I hear how the government is stripping away the rights of its people. This is going to end very badly. I can feel it. Soon we're going to have to pick a side. I'll fight for my liberty, and the freedom that is my Goddess given right and the rights of others.

Why do they think they can get away with this, Don't they know that they are setting people off the edge. even now pockets are forming and getting together.

For what it is worth

You are not alone (in the U.S.)

Usually I would not post hearsay, but in this case:

The brother in law of a friend of mine over here works for the Royal Navy as a technical specialist - he does "something" in submarines - said he was approaced by an officer he knows very well to basically help to start a militia. You heard it right. This would involve skimming weapons from the Navy. Can you imagine what would happen to them when caught? The feeling must be quite strong for it to go this far....

He (my friend) claims that there are anonymous flyers floating around with action points to be taken once "an emergency" arises in the UK.

Part of the flyers is a recommended todo list which includes:

- Weapons and where to get them
- Ammunition DIY
- What foods to buy NOW
- How to stockpile
- How to create emergency electricity

There seems to be a lot of red pamphlets posted all over london asking for some form of revolt against the government. He further said that now even his most skeptical sister wants to grow her own food - for whatever that is worth.

He said that talks and jokes about some sort of emergency is about all that is being talked about in the Navy between sailors.

I have no reason to doubt his statements, he is reliable in my judgement.
