So they put together a beautiful video with some music and right on cue - everyone starts crying and moaning.
1. Surface water is not water that is of drinking water quality. It never was and it never will be. What the video does not show is the number of
fish and animals urinating and defecating in the water. Or the fish and animals dying and rotting in the water. It also does not show the number of
humans who died as a result of drinking surface water contaminated with infectious water borne diseases.
The fact that people used to drink surface water was the number 1 reason for childhood deaths!
2. This video shows some pretty stunning landscapes and its all very beautiful but unless you are willing to step off the planet to reduce our
numbers down to what the population was when the Indians lived alone on the continent - And that small population are willing to live as the Indians
did, in tents and huts - then STOP COMPLAINING -
The word environment does not apply simply to trees and rivers. It also includes culture and economic interests. Our culture does not accept living
in caves as being acceptable.
3. Change is constant. The earth changes everyday. Stop trying to preserve everything as it is. It is the hieghth of human hubris and arrogance
that we actually believe that we know what "scenario" is best. The artic was once a thriving rain forest and is now a icy desert. Which scenario
should we be trying to preserve?
4. Stop sitting in your living rooms, crying over videos like this! This is brain washing and propaganda at its best and finest. The natives were
never "environmentalists" in its current state. Natives moved into an area and used its resources until it was unfit to live in and then moved on
to the next. If the white man had never come to America - they would likely still be living in exactly the same way. Although it is true that we did
the natives a terrible wrong, lets not romanticize their "lost" lifestyle. In reality- we would be watching videos of all the childhood deaths and
starvation and pleas to donate money to help the natives - just as we currently do with third world countries.
Most of all - stop imposing your romanticized notions of environmentalism on every one else! Yes - pollution is very very bad and needs to be
ameliorated and our footprint on this earth reduced because of our large numbers.
However, people that watch videos like this merely divert attention from the real problems and divert resources away from potential solutions. We
should not be worried about carbon dioxide. We should be reducing true pollutants like nitrous oxides and diverting sewage away from rivers and
streams.
Instead - because of people like you - we are spending billions on issues that are of little or no environmental consequence.
