"Feeling Lucky" Random Threads?

Could someone explain how this works please?

Maybe I've had too much coffee, and am feeling a bit paranoid, But I clicked this several times and found that I was being sent to threads that all shared a common unusual theme.

It kinda freaked me out, but then again just about everything does.

Are you looking for a specific thread?

Completely random posts. Each time you load the board home, or recent posts pages, a random thread is selected from all publicly viewed forums. It's purely random.... really.

No I just clicked the "Feeling Lucky" link on the main ATS discussions page, read an unusual thread, then did it again and again, I was just killing time, but I did see an unusual pattern in the threads I was sent to, So I was wondering how it works.
