Just in case you were wondering who/what projectcensored are;

Between 700 and 1000 stories are submitted to Project Censored each year from journalists, scholars, librarians, and concerned citizens around the world. With the help of more than 200 Sonoma State University faculty, students, and community members, Project Censored reviews the story submissions for coverage, content, reliability of sources and national significance. The university community selects 25 stories to submit to the Project Censored panel of judges who then rank them in order of importance. Current or previous national judges include: Noam Chomsky, Susan Faludi, George Gerbner, Sut Jhally, Frances Moore Lappe, Michael Parenti, Herbert I. Schiller, Barbara Seaman, Erna Smith, Mike Wallace and Howard Zinn. All 25 stories are featured in the yearbook, Censored: The News That Didn’t Make the News.

I was going to ask if it was possible for you to post a link to most, if not all of the stories, but I see that the link you provided did that. I haven't heard of projectensored before, but from what I can see, it looks pretty good.

I don't have the time right now to look over most of these stories, seeing as it is very late here. However, just by reading the title it looks to be an interesting read. Thanks for posting this.

Come on. This list represents the most wacky leftist views out there. It is clear to most that folks in the media are leftists and self-identified ones at that. That the media is biased and the storys you list are among those that the liberal media would love to sink their teeth into erodes the credibility of the post IMO.

This is a prove a negative deal. "They are not telling you that they are really hiding the vanila ice cream at Basking Robbins". OK-how do you know that? Come up with a bunch of ancedotes about how at certain stores they were out, that they are now selling almond/vanila, other kinds of vanila, but not simply "vanila" anymore?

Obviously the above example is a ruse. My point is that they all are all ruses. They want you to believe that the US is starting illegal wars in South America, so they tell you that the truth is being censored. What proof do you have that it is being censored? Does the very suggestion that it is being censored make you believe that it is being censored?

I could easily come up with a bunch of right-wing "truths" that are being censored as well and come up with grains of facts taken out of context that would on the surface make them seem reasonable ideas and say that the rest of the story is being censored.

These kinds of lists and these kinds of organizations lack credibility and work to illicit reactions and generate "knowledge" to ignorant folks. Joey in the local tells his buddy, Louie "did you know that "they are killing kids in detention centers? Oh yes, its a fact. I read all about it on the Projectcensored.org website and they are a serious organization". Joey's pal Louie and then Louie tells Bobby and down the lane so that now there is a bunch of boneheads telling other boneheads about the travesty of kids being killed in detention centers. That is exactly what they are looking for.

Did you read any of these stories or did you just skim the list that I provided? IMHO your use of "wacky leftist views" erodes your argument and your credibility.

Good job!

This is a very good link and lots of information for better understanding of what the hell has gone wrong with humanity and how close is the end of that all.

And no, this is not leftist propaganda. This is far deeper than that. So tremble in fear you demutated aggregates of pathological delusions.

Seek the truth

this is what joey told louie

Cruelty and Death in Juvenile Detention Centers
In states across the country, child advocates have harshly condemned the conditions under which young offenders are housed—conditions that involve sexual abuse, physical abuse and even death. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed lawsuits against facilities in 11 states for supervision that is either abusive or harmfully negligent. While the DOJ lacks the power to shut down juvenile cor- rection facilities, through litigation it can force a state to improve its detention centers and protect the civil rights of jailed youth.

Lack of oversight and nationally accepted stan- dards of tracking abuse make it difficult to know exactly how many youngsters have been assaulted or neglected.

According to the survey, more than 13,000 claims of abuse were identified in juvenile correction cen- ters around the country from 2004 through 2007—a remarkable total given that the total population of detainees was about 46,000 at the time the states were surveyed in 2007.

The worst physical confrontations have ended in death. At least five juveniles died after being forcibly placed in restraints in facilities run by state agencies or private facilities with government contracts since Jan. 1, 2004.

This is amazing! I've been trying to explain to my folks that the MSM is censored... This will probably make it a heck of a lot easier.

S+F for you!

This has nothing to do with 'right' and 'left'.

It is about the government controlled MSM that chooses what the public can and can't know.

Both parties are complicit. Both parties are one in the same.

Without the internet, we would all still be in the dark.

scary that we live in such a time that important issues such as these go overlooked/under appreciated...wish the world would turn off the tube and start talking like human being again...

Interesting site, good find. S&F for you!!

Although all the stories and articles are deeply disturbing, they are no where near surprising.

Lest we forget.

I would add the Baxtor Bird flu mix-up which was not even mentioned in American Media, and the Satellite crash which America media claimed was a meteor crash. Or the nuke mix-up at Barksdale air force base.

Satellite (freeworldsurvey.blogspot.com... , www.abovetopsecret.com... )

Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn do a great job of keeping up with what's left out of the media....just trying to finish "Manufacturing Consent" by Chomsky and it's pretty enlightening as to what gets left out of MSM....and Kudos to Zinn on writing the play "Marx in Soho"...I am pretty sure sponsoring that play in college helped bump me up on the "subversive" list

I'll check this out. I've seen lists for the last couple years, and some of the stories here I think were on before, but several look new to me and most look very important. That project is pretty good, they aren't just making this stuff up, they have references to where they are getting their information.

And to reply to the last poster, Chomsky and Zinn are awesome, they tell it like it is.

My favorite censored story is No. 26.

BO is not an American citizen, that he intends to grasp power to bestow big government on all of us, burdening us with high taxes and deficits, and has a grand plan of turning country into a leftist/socialist state.

Wow after reading the list, I am glad we wasted a week arguing over a couple hundred million spent on bonuses.

Thank god we weren't spending hundreds of billions at the time. And we hadn't lots hundreds of billions to black holes. Phew.

I will have a great sleep tonight.

Great post deessell.I hadn't heard of projectcensored.org/ before.

I'm Amazed at the Testimony in the Japanese parliament by Yukihisa Fujita(Parliament member) on the ethics of renewing Japan’s “anti-terror law,” # 24 Japan Questions 9/11 and the Global War on Terror

Fujita went on extensively to ask “about the suspicious information being uncovered and the doubts people worldwide are having about the events of 9/11.” The Japanese parliament viewed several slides from the Pentagon and World Trade Center (WTC) sites as Fujita explained each. The slides showed evidence inconsistent with official explanation: damage in and around the Pentagon was not consistent with the damage a 757 airplane would cause. Fujita noted, “Also, there were more than eighty security cameras at the Pentagon, but officials have refused to release the footage. In any case, as you have just seen, there is no picture of the airplane or of its wreckage in any of these photographs. It is very strange that no such pictures have been shown to us.” A US Air Force official corroborated the fact that the plane executed a U-turn and avoided the Defense Secretary’s office, a feat that would be impossible for an unskilled first-time pilot to maneuver; and no air defense was made in the ninety-minute interval between the initial impact of the planes at the WTC and the Pentagon. Fujita added, “It is baffling that no flight records were found at any of four sites.” On the ground at the WTC sites, both sounds and visual evidence from explosions were verified. Flying debris shot out as far as 150 meters consistent with buildings exploding. A New York fireman during rescue operations confirmed that a series of explosions resembled a professional demolition, and a Japanese survivor heard explosions while fleeing the site.

They've done this for quite some time now.

Go back 5 or so years, compile a list of the top 10 or 25 each year, and compare the stories what we know today.

Start a thread on accuracy or follow-up stories and see how well projectcensored's track record plays out.
