There was little piece in The Grauniad in their Top Ten list series about grimoires. As it also contained 'fictitious' works and The Necronomicon gets a listing, I thought it might make an interesting companion thread to the I Can Open Portals thread.

Some of this are pretty obvious choices given that influence seems to be the criteria here, hence some older 'classics' as well as Gardner's more recent Book of Shadows which, whatever you think of it, has been incredibly influential over the last 10 or 15 years. The Necronomicon's cultural and magical influence over the years is similarly undeniable, even though very few doubt it's provenance as a work of fiction.

1. The Sixth and Seventh Books of Moses
2. The Clavicule of Solomon
3. Petit Albert
4. The Book of St Cyprian
5. Dragon rouge
6. The Book of Honorius
7. The Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy
8. The Magus
9. The Necronomicon
10. Book of Shadows
