The Pentagon’s 18-year ban on media covering the return of fallen U.S. service members ended with a solemn ceremony for the arrival of a flag-draped casket of an airman felled in Afghanistan.

After receiving permission from family members, the military opened Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to the media Sunday night for the return of the body of Air Force Staff Sgt. Phillip Myers of Hopewell, Va.

The 30-year-old airman was killed April 4 near Helmand province, Afghanistan, when he was hit with an improvised explosive device, the Department of Defense said.

It's our right to see & broadcast current-events. We deserve to know the truth, and witness our dead, wounded & ill folks returning home from war & other happenings. The government has no control over independent journalists, who are well-aware of our freedoms.

Stay strong & alert. We must broadcast what matters to the general-population & every other person, who seeks the truth in our generation.

If they can ban the media from showing dead service members on TV, imagine what else they can deem "critical" to US national security so that it can't be talked about on the mainstream media networks?

People die in wars. I think that's readily accepted as fact.

Stop pretending we don't know 5,000 plus people have died as a result of your Global Oil Expedition and start being less cowardly.

Must be a real kick in the pants for them to see images of dead US servicemen on TV followed by reports of a tanking economy, hopeless quagmires with no end in sight, greedy Wall-Street bankers getting away scott-free and a President who's emulating George Bush so finely he deserves an Oscar.
