Mackey Claims 3rd Consecutive Iditarod Title!

msn.foxsports.com

NOME, Alaska (AP) - Make it three Iditarods in a row for Lance Mackey.

The musher from Fairbanks won the 1,100-mile trek across the wilderness Wednesday in the world's most famous sled dog race. And it wasn't even close.

....She also told the 38-year-old Mackey, a throat cancer survivor, "You continue to give all of us hope, the adversity that you have overcome, the challenges you've met, believe me, it resonates across our nation and across our world."

This is absolutely AMAZING!

This Musher Lance Mackey is not only an amazing Driver, with an Amazing team, but he also cares deeply about his Dogs. Not to mention the fact that he has survived Cancer, and the hardships resulting from such, and still he competes and reigns victorious.

He even discussed how the Truck he won in 2007 was given as a gift to his Wife, then the Truck he won in 2008 was traded in for a Sports Car, BUT, he plans to keep his Third Candy Apple Red Truck (PLUS $69,000!).

It must also be noted that Mackey is the very same individual last week who criticized and warned the other Mushers that they were Pushing themselves, and their Teams, far too quickly, with far too little rest. One of the Rookies who DID follow such a path of Driving too hard, ended up being the Owner of the Dogs that died during this years Iditarod. (The Rookie claims that the dogs must have frozen to death in the Cold Winds, and this is plausible if they were Pointer, Hound, or Non-Arctic Crosses, which typically lack the Cold Weather Endurability of the Pure Siberian Huskies, and Alaskan Huskies composed of Pure Arctic/Spitz Mixes).

This years Iditarod was declared by MANY to be the COLDEST race they have ever remembered Participating in during their Lifetimes/Careers. A few days ago they were facing down Temperatures of -5 Degrees Fahrenheit Below Zero, with Wind Chills of -35 Degrees Fahrenheit Below Zero. The past couple of days however they have been facing down Temperatures hovering around -10 Degrees Fahrenheit Below Zero, with Wind Chills Registering -50 Degrees Fahrenheit Below Zero, and possibly even lower.

Seriously though, congrats to him and his pups. Now lets go get a fourth title. This guy and his dogs are made of iron.
