President Barack Obama says China can have "absolute confidence" in the American economy, after Beijing pointedly questioned the safety of its huge haul of US government debt.

Obama took up comments by China's Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday, which represented a rare assessment by Beijing of the health of the US economy and the prospects for China's hundreds of billions of dollars in Treasury bonds.

what would of been the outcome of this had Obama told them the economy was corked and there was no chance china will ever see its billions again?
i can tell you it would be war.
so really Obama was only saying what was needed to say. It would be really interesting to know what he really thinks of the economy.
