Self-healing car coating repairs scratches

The next time your car is keyed, park it under a ray of sunshine. If your car is coated in a new polyurethane film developed by scientists from the University of Southern Mississippi, the scratch will be gone in an hour.

This doesn't look like it's completed yet and on the market, but the idea of using renewable materials is pretty good.

I've scratched my blackberry's screen enough, so something like this would also work well for phones or monitors.

interesting but not sure i would want it..

heat / sun would have to put it in a liquid state in order to 'fix' the scratches..
meaning thin clear coat/paint.
now try the same in arizona or texas, 115d heat, sun.
what happens.

this is pretty awesome!!!!

although the cost of this paint job on cars must be a pretty hefty price, considering it will take away money from those who repair paint jobs and products that do the same repair.

this could also save the consumer a lot of money in the long run if it passes the long term testing
