See where your friends are with Google Latitude

How often do you find yourself wondering where your friends are and what they're up to? It's a pretty central question to our daily social lives, and it's precisely the question you can now answer using Google Latitude.

I have always been concerned with just how much Google knows about me through my internet searches, and have often wondered if ther are working with the US Government in different ways. But after reading about "Latitude" I am very suspicious of their intentions.

Well, since at the moment it is completely opt-in I don't find it too weird. Some cell phone companies let you opt-in for GPS and let your friends see your location.

Apple also has something of the sort for I-Phones.

The truth is, if you have a cell phone, with or without using GPS, your provider always knows where you are, and in turn your government does.

So really the only big change is you're allowing it. lol

When they start requiring people to have GPS... that's when we start worrying.

The Government would rather us except these methods of tracking each other rather than forcing it onto us. If they make it "Trendy" or "Cool", then we won't question the morality of it. It's better for business.
