The problem with that approach is two-fold:
1 - it does not satisfy the objectives of the democrats, which is to make as many folks as possible dependant on the government. that increases their power.
2 - the US government does not have the guts to do that because it would place the US on a rocket to unbridled economic performance and that is not what the elite sipping their cocktails in Davos at the moment want. they want the US in the same sorry shape they are currently in.
