New Evidence of Meteor Bombardment

At least once in Earth’s history, global warming ended quickly, and scientists have long wondered why.

Now researchers are reporting that the abrupt cooling — which took place about 12,900 years ago, just as the planet was emerging from an ice age — may have been caused by one or more meteors that slammed into North America.

I feel this is a very important research that would throw light on the extinction of mammoths.

It definitely is a credible story and one cant but help feel that our knowledge about the climate, animal species and even humans of that time is still limited and evolving.

Maybe more extensive research needs to be carried out to find out exactly how this global cooling happened. Another thing that struck me is that can something similar be done by mankind, artificially, to reduce the effect of global warming?
