Troops search Mumbai siege hotel

Pappu Mishra was tending to his customers at his glass-walled cafe at the gothic Victorian Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station in Mumbai when he spotted two sprightly young men dressed in black.

He remembers the two sauntering into the waiting hall, plonking their handbags on the floor, taking out a gun "which looked like an AK-47", and walking toward the platforms where they gunned down late-evening commuters on the city's busy suburban train network.

"Their audaciousness was breath-taking," he says.

"One man loaded the magazine into the gun, the other kept shooting. They appeared calm and composed. They were not in the slightest hurry. They didn't seem to be afraid at all."

The men entered a platform and shot a man near an automated teller machine.

Then they turned around and shot another commuter at the grubby, dark-tiled drinking water station around the corner.

Then, the "foreign looking, fair skinned" men, as Mr Mishra remembers them, simply carried on killing.

In any cold blooded crime and investigater asks who benefits. Muslims in India are 10% of the population and have always functioned as the interlocutors between the Hindu casts. The have have no beef with the Hindu community. On occasions Hindu extremist rampage through lower caste communities, Christians and Muslim neighbourhoods but the state rounds them up.

Pakistan has a fragile government and they have no interest in provoking acts of war with India.

This leaves two parties that might interested in a war between India and Pakistan. Pakistan's radicals and Mossad. Pakistani radicals understand that the chaos of war will allow them to take over.

Mossad/Israel cannot abide by a Muslim country that is a nuclear power. Pakistan has already leaked the technology to some Arab countries and will retaliate against Israel if it ever chooses to use tactical nukes anywhere in the Middle East. Furthermore bouncing an independent minded India to the Western fold will position it into confrontation with the Chinese Tiger.

Basically, Pakistan does not profit from the atrocity in Mumbai and only Israel has the means, motive and opportunity. Locals have been communicating on Twitter about the high numbers of Israelis that have been staying at the Jewish centre over the past two years opposite to the hotels that were attacked.
