From the dawn of time man has looked up at the night sky and wondered at its greatness , oh what a sight the ancient night sky must have bin with no light pollution or smog to hinder ones view . Early man sought to understand and relate to this wonder that his eyes beheld , he began to tell stories of these mysterious lights in the sky .
Over time man would come to group these points of light in the sky together to form constellations . The formation of constellations was a big step forward as to form the constellations one must have studied the stars in detail for quite some time . It is not surprising to note that the early religions of the ancient world incorporated stellar events into there holly stories and holidays . Once constellations were formed and studied man discovered something very interesting , by closely studying the stars one could predict the changing of the seasons giving them the best times to plant and harvest there crops . There were many poems made that reflected this knowledge , " When the Pleiades and Hyades and strong Orion set , remember it is seasonable for sowing. And so the completed year passes beneath the earth ". "When Zeus has finished sixty wintry days after the turning of the Sun , then the star Arcturus leaves the holy stream of Ocean and first rises brilliant in the twilight. After him Pandion's twittering daughter , the swallow , comes into the sight of men when spring is just beginning ". These stories also built the foundation for many of the early religions . These early religions were largely based on the worship of the sun and its procession through the zodiac , with special attention being payed to the equinox and solstice .
Once early man had developed these skills based on the study of the stars mixed with stories depicting gods bestowing the knowledge of harvesting unto man it was only a matter of time until the first civilizations started to form . With the development of these communities and the natural stability that such a community might bring lead to something , something that was never possible before , the ability for a select few to dedicate there life to studying . At first symbols were used to depict these early stellar events which gave birth to the first languages , it wasn't long after that until we would see social class's began to form in these early communities .
The select few that were able to dedicate there life to the study of the stars evolved there knowledge ten fold . Not only did there stories get better but they inspired the building of great temples and markers alined with these stellar events . These buildings and markers were in many ways just as amazing as the stellar events that they were mimicking . For these buildings were used to glorify , in many ways , certain stellar events allowing a perfect aligning of the sun with certain parts of the building at certain times of the year , often coinciding with a special holiday or celebration . The studies of the stars mixed with the ability of being able to dedicate ones life to study also gave birth to a new form of study , geometry . This new discovery would allow man to look at math in a hole new way . With the discovery of advanced math and a good knowledge of the stars man was able to set out upon the waters of the earth with his new found ability to navigate .
With each new discovery and advancement the communities would go on to form cultures with a very deep spiritual connection to there way of life , with there gods at the center of there cultural importance and sense of self . These gods were also given credit for bestowing language and building skills onto man , in a way one could argue thats just what happened .
