NY Yankees Fan Ejected for 7th Inning Bathroom Break

They claim there is a rule they were enforcing, but the rule violates constitutional rights. Is the cop justified???

This sounds too familiar, this past Spring I went to a Jays game in Toronto, with my College... long story short, I was escorted from the facility by TWO police officers... Why? For wanting to go outside for a cigarette... Oh I was mad... not only did I get kicked out, they added insult to injury by handing me a piece of "Nicorette Gum"... WTF!?!?!?

I did get back in however, after a cigarette, I purchased another ticket to go back to my original seat... and yes, the police stood at the top of the stairs watching me for the duration of the last 3 innings... It was definitely a wake up call... oh, and the reasoning behind it.... MLB Executive Orders "Prohibit fans from re-entering the facility after departure"... or so I was told by the Rogers Centre Representative... but what really got me... was other consumers... from T.Dot I presume, deemed it completley normal???? Are they DAFT?

rrrrghhhh.... Can we say infringement....

"I then said to him, 'I don't care about God Bless America. I just need to use the bathroom.' As soon as I said that, he immediately pinned my arm behind my back," Campeau-Laurion told CBS 2.

The 29-year-old says two officers pinned both of his arms behind his back and ejected him from the stadium.

"He shoved me out the front gate and told me get out of their country if I didn't like it," he said.


That seems pretty excessive just because a guy needs to take a leak. Haven't those cops ever heard when you gotta go, you gotta go? There is just no excuse to not allow a person to use a bathroom, especially when he is a paying customer. What really must have sucked for this guy is that he was thrown out before relieving himself. I hope he was able to find a toilet somewhere. If not, he should have gone on the ticket booth.


On a personal note, I made the trip to Yankee Stadium for the first time this year to watch them play the Mariners. I had heard that they played the song during the seventh inning stretch, but wasn't aware that it was a noisy old recording of a big band and sung horribly by some long-dead lady with a nasally voice. That torture seemed to go on forever. Had I have needed a bathroom break, you'd have been reading about me going through what this poor guy did.

Standard operating procedure for any stadium, no re entry. I used to wrk at a college stadium, and people would buy multiple tickets for basketball games cause they would want to go outside and smoke. It sucks, but pretty much all stadiums have that rule.

As for the guy getting ejected, that' crap, god bless america is not even the national anthem, and even then he should not be arrested.

Great. Now we even have to fall into the totalitarian line while we're enjoying... er, excuse me, obediently watching sports games.

There are signs everywhere at the Rogers Centre stating that you cannot re-enter once you leave. Did you not notice them or just disregard them?

It's even printed right on the tickets.

Yeah, the Rogers center is rather low on funds. They won't be spending money on ticket checkers to stand there scanning the tickets of people re-entering.

You can leave the Air Canada center for a smoke during games, because they've got enough money to keep guards at all the doors so you can re-enter... but the Rogers center is a different story.

(I still refuse to call it the Rogers center... it's the freaking sky dome.)

I sometimes wonder how the Rogers center manages to stay open at all... serious mismanagement.

When I first heard this story I assumed the man took a bathroom break during the National Anthem before the game. I believe everyone no matter what culture needs to respect the National Anthem tradition before a game; however, before the game. The seventh inning? Come on - if the stadium wants people to respect the song and stay put.... play it after the National Anthem.
