US-led forces killed 76 civilians in an operation

english.aljazeera.net

Afghanistan's interior ministry says US-led forces killed 76 civilians in an operation on Wednesday in the west of the country, directly contradicting the US military which said 30 suspected Taliban had died.

"Seventy-six people, all civilians and most of them women and children, were martyred during the operation by coalition forces in Shindand district of Herat province," the ministry said on Friday.

"Nineteen women, seven men and the rest children all under 15 years of age," were killed in the operation, the statement said.

The ministry said it would be one of the highest civilian deaths tolls in the battle against the Taliban since they were ousted from power during the 2001 US-led invasion.

I understand that while conducting air strikes unfortunate casualties will occur but that being said, the U.S. has done more of this incidents in the past and don't seem to care anymore.

If they are conducting these operations they should at least rely on a better source of intelligence to tell them exactly where the enemies are located.

Killing innocent people especially children is just sickening.

Just because you dont hear of US forces killing civilians, its still being done all the time. Im surprised it surprises you. Who do you think will stop a captain ordering his men to open fire on civilians? There is nobody there to view it.

Horrible things are done in war. Its not like in the Hollywood movies. Heard of what the Blackwater guys did? Think they were the only ones?
