AARRRGGHHH!!! This dumb stereotyping song playing all day on the radio

I think it's now a fad to have someone in a fake Caribbean accent (think Sebastian from little mermaid) over a house beat. And they are huge hits. The radio station they have here on the job is playing the crappy song all day. If he sang it in perfect English I wouldn't mind. But not in this crappy fake Caribbean "I'm from de Islands mon!" accent that we here certainly don't speak with. I personally think it's uncle Tom like.

I say find some bands you like and burn some cds. keep them in your car and listen to those. I listen to everything from Phill Collins to Confliction so my taste will vary from day to day. It helps having an ipod though

I hear ya, but that's what happens when you turn what used to be local culture into a commodity. It gets watered down and distorted (see: the history of rap, or anything Native American).
