Now according to dictionary.reference.com...

A billion orignally meant "Bi - million" or million X 2 which equals 1000,000,000,000

However someone screwed the number and made 1 billion to equal 1,000,000,000!

According to the French and American method of numeration, a thousand millions, or 1,000,000,000

So a gigabyte is a billion bytes .... is that 10 to the 9 or 10 to the 12? is it 1000,000,000 or 1,000,000,000,000??

I also read that bit is the smallest unit of data on a computer., either 0 or 1.

A byte is 8 bits, and 1/2 a byte is 4 bits, which is called a "nibble" (is this true?)

1 nibble = 4 bits

1 byte = 8 bits

1 kilobyte = 1 KB = 1 024 bytes

1 megabyte = 1 MB = 1 048 576 bytes

1 gigabyte = 1 GB = 1 073 741 824 bytes

1 terabyte = 1 TB = 1 099 511 627 776 bytes

1 petabyte = 1 PB = 1 125 899 906 842 624 bytes

1 exabyte = 1 EB = 1 152 921 504 606 846 976 bytes
