Children as young as three have been held by police over alleged assaults, official crime figures have disclosed.
One four-year-old was held for a drugs offence while a six-year-old was believed to have carried out a house burglary.

A seven-year-old was stopped for driving carelessly and a nine-year-old was caught carrying a knife.

This is a disgrace. What kind of police state locks up three years olds? How would you feel if it was your child?

We've got some (most) kids in our neighborhood that should have been drowned at birth. Wretched little urchins with no respect for life or property, no discipline, no self-control, no manners. It is totally the fault of their parents/guardians/caregivers but no matter: nits grow into lice.

Three does seem a little young but with the adult content that kids are exposed to on a daily basis from infancy on: 6 year olds can be holy hellions. I think we should bring back good old fashioned consequences for actions and apply those consequences consistently.

Cops need to turn over minor children to their parents and if the parents are liable in any way, punish them. Train children, punish adults.

Parents are responsible for children. For thousands of years this has not been a problem. Why are the police arresting children as young as three years old? That is wrong. If a child that young is behaving like that and the parents aren't looking after them it is up to Social Services to step in not the police. Also, when those police are out grabbing three year olds they aren’t dealing with adult crime.

Agreed but some of the crimes committed sounded pretty "adult" to me: carrying a weapon, drugs, burglary, wreckless driving.
