Gordon Brown signalled plans to bring in the database holding details of every phone call, email and time spent on the internet by the public in last month's draft Queen's Speech.

The proposal is part of Government plans to implement a European Union directive which was brought in after the 7 July bombings to encourage uniform record-keeping across EU states.

Oh well isn't this great. Finally they're implementing a full system to track everything you do with your hard earned money. You know whats really bad about this, it's the fact that the NHS computer system was a monumental mistake, cost a fortune and is as buggy as your average swamp. It's also about half as secure.

What do you think a system like this is going to be? It's going to be horrendously complex, cost i'm thinking hundreds of millions if not billions and basically be an utter waste. Does this mean if i purchase a chemistry book and a Qu'ran at the same time i'll be red flagged?
