Ex-Manager Admits to Navy Bid Conspiracy

A former manager of a West Sayville cargo-equipment maker admitted in federal court Thursday to his role in conspiracies to rig bids on Navy contracts and to accept kickbacks from vendors and subcontractors, federal prosecutors said.

These companies are ripping of US taxpayers! Our defense budget is already through the roof and we find ourselves getting pick-pocketed in our own backyard. That is a pretty serious crime. Freire is lucky to get off with one year of prison and a $10,000 fine.

Do you think the punishment is in line with the crime? Perhaps more importantly, are there Navy or DOD insiders who are in on this? I don't think so, but the investigation is ongoing.

im willing to bet thats not even the tip of the iceburg
trillions going 'missing' in 3 years, no paper trail, i find that hard to believe, every money transfer and cheque ever made is recorded, or do the us government only pay in cash?

Most definitely. We are talking multiple companies conspiring together to rig contract bidding. Sounds like the government needs to hire more auditors... add jobs to the economy + saves taxpayers from crooks.
