At least 100,000 said executed by US's Korean ally in 1950 summer of terror

Grave by mass grave, South Korea is unearthing the skeletons and buried truths of a cold-blooded slaughter from early in the Korean War, when this nation's U.S.-backed regime killed untold thousands of leftists and hapless peasants in a summer of terror in 1950.

Hundreds of sets of remains have been uncovered so far, but researchers say they are only a tiny fraction of the deaths. The commission estimates at least 100,000 people were executed, in a South Korean population of 20 million.

Half a century later, the truth always emerges. No matter how deep you try to bury it, it always floats on the surface someday. This is just one more sign, which shows, that in wars there are no good sides - there is not battle of good versus evil and in essence all of the sides are the same. Mass graves found in Korea are today just a bitter reminder, of how wars are usually fought and how winners write history in their way. And we can only imagine, what kind of attrocities are happening today, which we shall find about 50 years from now.

Another sad chapter in the America history of state-sponsored terrorism.
This was only the prelude to far more widespread backing of reprehensible regimes done in the name of thwarting the spread of Communist ideologies around the world.
Of course when America does it, it's in the name of fighting for "freedom"; when anyone else does it, it's terrorism.

Look at the progression:

Korea, 1950 - ~100,000 dead

Guatemala 1954 - democratically elected Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán overthrown, right-wing Military Junta installed, executes upto 50,000 "traitors" & "Communists"

Iraq 1963 - The Ba'ath Party led by Abdel Karim Kassem comes to power with the CIA's help, and is given lists, locations and weapons to rid the country of Communists.
The same Ba'ath Party who is later hijacked by Saddam's cousin, who places him as Vice President, thus ensuring Saddam's gradual rise to power.
You can't make this stuff up.

Chile 1973 - Democratically-elected President Salvador Allende is overthrown in a coup with CIA backing and replaced by the right-wing, military dictator Augusto Pinochet who proceeds to lock up, torture or execute anyone he claims is a Communist, and install a radical military Junta which violated civil liberties on all levels.

Afghanistan 1980's - Should be self-explanatory to everyone, CIA provides widespread arming and funding of Mujahideen militias to deter Soviet Occupation, the same Mujahideen who later formed the vicious and cruel Taliban regime and provided a save haven for Osama and Al-Qaeda.

Nicaragua 1981-1990 - CIA provides arms, funds and training to the right-wing Sandinista Regime (known as the Contras) who executed over 80,000 Nicaraguan civilians. The funding for the Nicarguan Operation came from profits made via secret arms sales to Iran during the Iran-Iraq War.

Absolutely stunning the amount of hypocrisy within the history of US Foreign Policy.
And the Republicans today talk about cracking down on State-sponsored terrorism? Hah!
The US backed every Right-wing nut & his party on the planet over the last 70 years. The total amount spent on such covert financing and support easily eclipses anything Iran, Lebanon, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq or Afghanistan have provided to known terrorists over the years.
